Hello and welcome!
Hello everyone and thank you for taking the time to stop by and read my humble blog.
My name is Adam and I am a 28 year old geologist from the great and sometimes infamous state of New Jersey. Since I was born and raised in NJ you can imagine that I did not grow up with the traditional outdoor experiences you hear about from most outdoor professionals and bloggers. I didn’t spend weekends as a kid camping in Yosemite Valley, or skiing the powdery slopes of the Rocky Mountains, but that has not stopped me from developing an insatiable appetite for adventure and the great outdoors.Since the first time I watched the 1998 Everest IMAX film as a kid I was hooked, and knew that one day I would experience Earth’s wildest places with my own eyes and walk in the footsteps of my idols.
In my quest to reach the most remote and beautiful places this planet has to offer I have had wonderful experiences and met some pretty incredible people along the way. I cherish each and every opportunity I am given to enjoy time in nature. From the local woods and parks by my home to the rugged mountains of northern Maine, New Hampshire, and New York, to far flung places like the Canary Islands off the coast of Africa. For me each and every place is an opportunity for me to live my passion and to develop the skills I need to achieve my goals. From hiking and trail running to rock and ice climbing I do it all and love each and every activity. For me there is no such thing as a bad day in the mountains. I use each trip as a way to hone my skills and fitness so that I have the tools I need to accomplish bigger and more ambitious goals.
Which brings me to why I am here. I am sure you must be wondering what this “Operation Alaska 30” thing is all about. Well the answer is two fold. First and foremost this blog is part of my motivation and a reminder of why I do the things I do and push as hard as I push. I made a promise to myself that by the time I am 30 I will climb a mountain in Alaska, America’s last frontier and I intend to keep that promise. Secondly, I want to share my story and experiences along the way for others to enjoy and hopefully get something out of. I am just an everyday adventurer like many of you reading this. I work a 9-6 job and normally only have the weekends to work with, but despite this I think real adventure is always within reach and we cannot allow our day to day lives to hold us back from our passions. I hope that my trip reports will provide valuable information and advice that can help other everyday adventurers get out there.
This blog is as much about you, the community as it is about me and I value all of your feedback to make this blog a success and a valuable resource for you the readers.

Hey Pat, thank you for the support. It is an ambitious plan but I always liked the saying that if your not at least a little bit scared you will fail your not trying hard enough.
